World Record Attempts

There will be many opportunities to set World Records at the 2019 Camporee. Here are some possible ideas we are looking into now. Stay tuned and check back often for a complete approved list.

  • Largest Human Cross: On Sabbath morning immediately following the Worship Service we are forming the Largest Human Cross.  We will line up in a designated place right beside the Stage and meeting area.  We are needing over 15,000 Pathfinders, young and old, age does not matter.  You must be in your Pathfinder Uniform and follow the directions of the leaders because a precise count of the Pathfinders participating is very important to accomplish this World Record.  Stay by and be a part of this special activity!
  • Largest Pathfinder Scarf and Slide: Can you imagine the Pathfinder that will wear this scarf?! We are making a Yellow Pathfinder Scarf that is 300 feet from tip to tip and 150 feet from front to back tip.  WOW!!! And the slide will be in proportion to match.  On Sabbath morning, depending on the wind and weather, we will display the scarf, either by picking up the scarf with a crane (it will weigh about 800 pounds), or by having Pathfinders walk in with it to display during the Investiture Program!  Much of the sewing will take place right on the Camporee grounds so come by and see this World’s Record being made right in front of you!
  • Number of Persons Performing Jumping Jacks for One Minute: How long can you do Jumping Jacks?  We want to set the World’s Record for the number of people performing Jumping Jacks continuously for exactly 60 seconds or 1 minute.  We need over 2000 adults and Pathfinders of any age to help us!  When we start, we can not stop for any reason but continue for 60 seconds.  Are you up to the challenge?  We know you are and we need your help to set this record!  We will send out the day and time of this challenge so you can be a part!
  • Number of Persons Jumping in Place for One Minute: Here’s another World’s Record you can participate in!  We need a lot of people, no matter what age!  We need over 10,000 people to help us jump up and down for 60 seconds or 1 minute.  Are you up to it!  Give it your best shot!!!  Light shoes and good leg muscles will do it!  60 seconds!  That’s not long at all!  Spread the word. We need to jump in place for the entire 60 seconds.  Like you were jumping rope for the entire time!  Get in on this World’s Record!  You can do It!!!  Time and place will be announced later.
  • Largest Piggy Back Race: When is the last time you were a part of a Piggy Back Race?  Get in on this World’s Record.  We need over 1200 participants or 600 teams of two.  A piggyback race is a race where one person runs while carrying another person on their back and shoulders. It does not matter the age of anyone, whether carrying or riding but at the horn, everyone must race towards the finish line 100 yards away.  This will be fun!!!! To participate in and to watch!  We will give time and location as soon as possible.
  • Fastest Time to Erect a Four Man Tent: We are Pathfinders and we love the outdoors don’t we?!  Setting up our tent is part of camping.  How fast can you set up a four man tent?  We want to set a world’s record and your club or your team can do it.  You need a 10 person team, whether from your club or combination of clubs.  No age limit, adults, youth, teens or juniors.  The tent you should practice with is the Coleman 4-Man Sundome tent.  You start out with all ten team members at the ready and the tent in the bag.  At the signal, begin by setting up the tent using all stakes, ropes, poles and fly.  You will conclude but getting all 10 team members inside the tent with the cloth shelf stretched inside and all zippers zipped up.  When the team leader calls out time, the timer stops and the tent checked.  The tent must stand for 30 seconds following the finish.  You must be fast!!!!  The World’s Record is 1 minute 58 seconds.  Practice, Practice!!!  We will have the tents available for practice during the week but on Friday we will have the Finals!  If you think your team is very fast, Come see and we will officially time you!!!  You can do it!!!!!  Time and location will be announced.
