Clothing

Bring good, comfortable walking shoes. Pack an extra pair in case it rains.

Bring shoes that can be used in the shower tents.

Pack for all weather conditions. Past Camporees have had rain, heat, and cold. Make sure to have gloves, rain coats, sunscreen, and a large hat to protect from the sun.

Bring an extra rain coat and rain boots.

Buy clothes, towels, washcloths, and backpacks from thrift stores. This way if they are ruined or lost you aren't out a bunch of money.

Be sure your Pathfinders have all their Class A uniform pieces: Shirt, pants/skirt, scarf, slide, sash, black shoes & socks.

During the day, wear loose, breathable clothing. This will help your body regulate temperature. Don't forget your hat and sunscreen.

During the night program, dress in layers. The first layer should be comfortable and dry. Include thick socks, a warm hat, and gloves.

Food & Water

Plan quick and easy lunches so most of your time can be spent with honors and activities.

Give your Pathfinders a lightweight backpack with their lunch, water bottle, pen/pencil, and 2 ziplock bags for their pins. This way they can a have a bag for the ones they want to trade, and the ones they want to keep.

Bring high calorie snacks for the afternoon.

Bring a reusable water bottle. It will save money and reduce waste.

Make sure any food scraps and wrappers are thrown away in the proper containers. Litter is unacceptable.

Read about the concessions before Camporee so you know what will be available.

Weather

Make sure your club has quality tents that can hold up against both wind and water.

During the day we expect temperatures up to 89° Fahrenheit (32° Celsius). It is very important to keep hydrated.

At night temperatures can be as low as 46° Fahrenheit (8° Celsius). Make sure Pathfinders are dressed warm enough at the night program.

Campbell County has a weather app available for download.

Health & Safety

Make sure Pathfinders have all their medications and a list of any allergies. Make sure club leaders are aware of health needs.

Be prepared to walk a lot. A small package of Band-Aids can help blistered feet.

Make sure each Pathfinder has hand sanitizer and toilet paper with them throughout the day.

Bring baby wipes for the times when the line for the showers is too long.

Stay together in groups. If your groups split up, set up meeting places and times to reconnect and check in together.

Keep valuables at home. It is very hard to secure items in a tent. The Camporee is not responsible for lost or stolen items. Phones, cameras, wallets, and pins are some of the most lost items at Camporee.

Give a lot of all emergency contact numbers to your leaders for each Pathfinder.

Pre-Planning

Familiarize yourself with the Camporee website. It has all the information you will need. If you can't find something, be sure to search it.

Start planning at least two years in advance. Tickets sell out quickly, as do activity sign-ups. Set deadlines for every stage of the process.

Make sure to download the Camporee App BEFORE arriving at Camporee. Once it is downloaded, it won't require WI-FI.

Research ahead of time and make a schedule of your club's activities. Some honors and activities require signing up, or a fee, so come prepared with an idea of how your club will participate.

Have lots of trading pins and something to carry them in. Make sure your pin displays and containers have your Pathfinder's name and club name listed, in case they get lost.

For working leaders and parents, plan your vacation a year before Camporee and submit it in the first month of 2029, to avoid late request and questions at work.
